State your name, education, and job title. My name is Paula Healy and I am a current Classroom Researcher for Virtual Planet's (VP) Vurti-Class Program. I obtained my Bachelor of Education from York X University in the year 2103.
So, what was your life as a teacher before Virtual Planet popularized the Virtu-Class Program? Before Virtual Planet’s revolutionary technology, I was a full-time teacher within a classroom. It was always my life goal to teach the youth and inspire a generation of passionate learners. However, due to Glitchville’s rapidly expanding population, the classroom sizes of 50 kids became too much to handle. It took my passion away for it due to the high level of demand from the students. Virtu-Class’s state-of-the-art technology allowed me to shift my career from being overwhelmed in a classroom towards standing on the outside of the class and creating meaningful programming for all kinds of students. The program allows for the capacity for previous teachers to grow and use their skills. My passions translated well into this technology and I am happy with how my career unfolded thanks for Virtual Planet.
What do you do as a Classroom Researcher for Virtual Planet? That’s a great question. I am employed by Virtual Planet to work on programming for Virtu-Class. As you know, Virtu-Class is a program that is administered through every child’s VP-VR Headset. In place of the classroom, Virtu-Class allows students to access their education in a highly controlled and intelligent virtual system. There is a virtual teacher that administers the government curriculum to students in an immersive environment that is only capable due to VP-VR’s technology. I work alongside electronic programmers to create and upload educational laterals to the Virtu-Class database that will be administered to students. As I used to do in my classroom, I take the government’s curriculum for specific grade levels and create lesson plans to meet the requirements of the curriculum. However, I now work closely with programmers who come up with creative ways to transpose my lessons into an amazing VR experience for the students. My latest lesson plan for a grade 9 art class was taking a trip to Paris, virtually of course, and drawing the Eiffel tower while being right in front of it!
I have to ask, what is your take on the statistic that 60% of classroom-based teacher’s are currently without jobs in Glitchville due to Virtua-Classe taking over education? I have no comment on that statistic.
Since this program is all virtual, I would imagine you don’t get to work with students anymore. How do you feel about that? That is the only downside to this role. I completed my degree in university based on the impression that I would be using my knowledge to work with children directly. It has been a weird adjustment, as I'm sure it has been for everyone with this new technology, to change from in-person interaction to online interactions. I do miss seeing the kids though, every teacher that went to school twenty years ago had a love for children.
Where do you foresee this technology going? It can only go up from here. Virtual Planet has done a great job employing previous classroom teachers to work on Virtu-Class. They have been great at allowing us to collaborate with their top-tier programmers to administer this data to students. We have studied these programs and found high success rates within a majority of the student population. Our students are reacting positively to these programs within their testing. Due to this technology, they have been experiencing school in the best way possible, they can travel beyond their human capacities and play within settings they were never able to before. Our testing on the students has proved that Virtu-Class is the best form of education to improve the literacy rates within the country. I foresee the rates continuing to rise as students fully embrace this program in every aspect of their lives. Virtual Planet is the best way for students to improve their intelligence within the country.
