What inspired our approach to building our world is students' current experiences with technology in schools. Some of these current issues include students not creating their own work or ideas and only relying on ideas and work already created. Thus, students are not gaining new knowledge or engaging their creative minds. There are concerns and beliefs that teachers may lose their jobs or skill sets if there is an increase in reliance on technology in education. Throughout the pandemic, we’ve learned that education can be done at home and not actively having to be in schools. With that, the lack of school attendance comes from the premise that students can catch up virtually. This world is rooted in an anticipated understanding of the reader’s present since students are already using AI, and through building this world, we’re looking at this continued use of AI in education and the extreme consequences of it in the education system on teachers and students alike. Our new world looks at health issues from prolonged screen and sitting times. The present-day hints at youth losing interpersonal skills through ongoing virtual communication, and our new world looks at the extreme version. This story also touches on political issues faced in this new world, such as how civilians lose curiosity in thinking outside the box and questioning authority since life is so efficient for them. Authoritative figures also lose critical thinking and problem-solving skills by relying on AI to solve grande problems.
