The poor citizens are hopelessly awaiting the day when they will be able to leave the GTA and begin living the life they have imagined. They are tired of having their lives controlled by the government and the wealthy; they barely have enough food to survive, and the poor who harvest the land for the wealthy are sometimes forced to smuggle food to feed their families. Most of the poor, particularly children, are malnourished, and they are becoming ill due to a lack of nutrients. The poor children who live in zone 2 and 3 are attending school however are being taught the basics of the education system, whereas the wealthy students are being taught STEM that the government has mandated. Despite the mandate and unknown to the government and residents of zone 1 some of the children from zone 2 and 3 are secretly being taught STEM by some of the teachers. The teachers who are secretly teaching these children are risking their lives; the government nor the zone 1 residents want to give the poor the opportunity to be taught the STEM curriculum because they are afraid that they will gain knowledge and eventually take over the city. Because the wealthy are thriving and living their best lives, they are unaware of what is going on; they believe that the government has everything under control and that they have nothing to worry about. The wealthy are thriving; they have farms, horse ranches, and golf courses, and their children attend school, where they receive an education but barely pass. The children don't seem to mind because they know they won't have to work because they will receive an inheritance from their parents. The wealthy are constantly mocking the poor by mistreating them and undermining their existence.
