The Dystopians/Scarlett's Story
My name is Scarlett. This will be the one and only time that I write down my true intentions for the new..new world. Being a part of the bourgeois people, everyone must think I hate those of the lower class or that my head is in the clouds and oblivious to the horrors faced everyday in our new society. This is not the case. Allow me to explain.
I don’t subscribe to the hierarchical system that I have been forced into. I know that I am extremely fortunate to be alive, but something essential to know about me is that when I don’t agree with something I simply cannot sit idly by and let it happen. So now as I’m writing this I have so many plans to make real changes here before we cease to exist.
For context, the Bourgeois people do not have much of an education system in place for our people. In short…we’re ignorant to most things that occurred in the old world or even our new world now. Education is not the priority here but rather the flaunting of money, power, and privilege. I can’t say that we do not see the danger of being educated though since the leaders of the bourgeois people have confiscated all of the educational materials from the labourers. This was appalling to me and when this event took place, I knew that so many people were in danger of losing out on so much, especially the children. I know we do not have much time left to live so you may be wondering why I am choosing to say something, to do something, when I could just be enjoying my riches and exploiting people with my family. Knowing I am so close to death I simply cannot allow people to be mistreated in the ways that they are, their education stripped. Taking away their education was the first step in crimes against the people who live below, this needs to end. These people deserve to live the remainder of their life with dignity and not under the thumb of people who have not earned their position.
I have created a secret society where all levels of people have access to knowledge of the before times. In my privileged boredom, I stumbled upon a pile of books that had been confiscated from the labourers to force them into submission when we first arrived in MistWorld. I needed to know why this information was being taken from these innocent people, so I studied each of the books to truly understand the intentions of our new society. This knowledge made me realize that it was now my responsibility to reeducate the masses of the past.
Fast forward to today, I am meeting with my secret society, the existence of which could obliterate the entire existence of the Bourgeois of the region, to simply allow the labourers of MistWorld to read the books that were once taken from them. I wouldn’t say I want to sit back and watch the world burn…but maybe that’s what it takes to do right by mankind.
