As the ice caps melted, sea levels rose, and the rest of the world became a jungle environment. Despite the fact that there was no Global Warming to worry about, the air quality was excellent, and there was no longer smog, the GTA was lifeless, grey, and overcrowded; it would rain for days and even months at a time, making it difficult for civilization to be happy; people were frequently depressed, and the only hope they had left was to know that the GTA was the only safe place to be in order to live. The GTA is home to both the poor and the wealthy. Because the poor need to work to survive, they work for the wealthy and believe that the government only helps the wealthy. The less fortunate are aware of the segregation between the two classes, but they believe there is no hope for them. Because the wealthy have government support, they can have farms and land north of the GTA, non-wealthy citizens work and cultivate the land, and the poor are barely surviving.
