Tony's story
Johnny Odis is a 17-year-old who attends the most prestigious private school in Toronto, Hope Hall Academy. The youngest son of Micheal and Lorena Odis, the biggest land developers in Toronto, with political ties. If you meet Johnny once, you adore him. He is smart, hilarious, kind, caring, and handsome. He has many friends, hobbies, and skills. Never been bullied or bullied anyone. Johnny has never had to worry about food or shelter and is loaded with love from his family. He has his hands on anything he wants, or anyone could ever dream of. However, he hangs on to one big, deep, dark secret- the one thing he really wants is more love in the world and to be freed from his depression and anxiety.
Having lost his grandfather to suicide in the year 2020, and never having had the chance to meet him, this is constantly on his mind. Is his condition and the way he feels genetic? How was the world before and what pushed his grandfather over the edge? Why was no one able to help his grandfather? He can’t seem to understand how everyone was so blind to the signs of his grandfather’s condition. Johnny can’t find the courage to discuss any of this with his father, Michael as he’s made it clear that this is a topic he does not want to talk about. It’s been years and here he is still not able to discuss it. Johnny wonders if his father too suffers from the same thing but looks like he will never be able to find out. His father is too proud to shed a tear and he has a status to uphold in his perfect reality. Johnny does see that his father spends every day in some semblance of pain and expects that he will for the rest of his life. Although his father is great at hiding it, he spends his days in his grandfather’s shadow, remembering and sharing the lessons he taught him. Through Johnny, his father can give his grandfather a vision of the world he deserved. The kind world he had hoped to live in. All this adds pressure to how Johnny lives and leads his life. How can Johnny compete with the success of his father, when all he wants to do is live a simple, humble life? There are so many things that go through his mind and he’s consistently thinking and thinking, and his mind just won’t stop. The pain is unbearable. Johnny cares so much about everything that the sorrows of the previous world and way of living has become too much for him. He still feels the global pain. He lives everyday with kindness and empathy and his motto is “It costs nothing to be good to someone” and reminds everyone to do all things with kindness. Johnny is dedicated to making change on a global scale. He believes the next generation is full of ideas and opinions, they’re open and creative. They are the generation that can make a difference, and Johnny is making it his life mission to lead them.
